New Year, Better You: Why Group Therapy May Be The Resource You Need in 2025

Let’s be honest—healing, whether from stress, trauma, people-pleasing tendencies, or communication struggles, can feel incredibly isolating. You might think:

  • “I’m the only one who feels this way.”

  • “I should be able to figure this out on my own.”

  • “I don’t want to burden my friends or family with this.”

If you’ve ever had these thoughts, you’re not alone. Many people experience shame, fear of vulnerability, or a sense of disconnection when they’re trying to grow and heal. But what if healing didn’t have to be a solo effort?

Why Group Therapy is Powerful

Group therapy is a space to process challenges, celebrate progress, and build genuine connections with others who "get it." Here’s why it works:

  1. You Realize You’re Not Alone
The moment someone else in the group says, “I struggle with that, too,” is profoundly validating. Sharing experiences in a safe and supportive group can lift the weight of loneliness and shame off your shoulders.

  2. Learn and Grow Together
While individual therapy is powerful, group therapy allows you to witness others' journeys and learn through their insights and successes. Hearing how someone else sets boundaries or practices self-compassion might inspire you to try it in your own life.

  3. A Safe Space to Be Real
Many of us spend our days putting on a brave face for work, relationships, or family. In group therapy, you’re free to take that mask off. It’s a space where you can show up as yourself, share struggles honestly, and still feel seen and supported.

  4. Practice Connection and Communication
If you struggle to express yourself, set boundaries, or communicate your needs, group therapy provides a unique space to practice these skills in real-time. You’ll learn to listen, reflect, and respond in healthier, more authentic ways.

  5. More Affordable than Individual Therapy
Group therapy allows you to receive professional guidance and support at a lower cost than individual therapy, making it a more accessible option for those ready to invest in their healing. Investment: $275 for first month (Intake session + month commitment to group) then $220 per following month

Group Therapy and Individual Therapy: What You Need to Know

At Horizons Holistic Healing, I want to ensure you’re getting the best possible care. That’s why I offer group therapy orindividual therapy, but not both at the same time.

  • If you’re currently in individual therapy with me: You’re welcome to transition to group therapy when you feel ready.

  • If you’re in group therapy: You can choose to transition to individual therapy afterward if you feel you need more personalized support.

  • Why? It’s important to maintain the integrity of your healing process. Combining both with the same therapist can create overlapping dynamics that might not serve you fully.

This structure ensures you receive the most effective, focused care—whether in a group setting or one-on-one.

Who is Group Therapy For?

If you:

  • Struggle with self-compassion or tend to be your harshest critic

  • Find yourself saying “yes” when you want to say “no”

  • Feel stuck in relationships, communication, or your personal goals

  • Long for a sense of connection and belonging

  • Want to grow alongside others who share similar struggles

Then this group is for you.

Our Virtual Group Therapy will explore themes like self-compassion, boundaries, communication, relationships, goals, and values. You’ll also have space for general processing—because sometimes you just need to be heard.

Why Invest in Yourself in 2025?

Investing in therapy—especially group therapy—isn’t just about "fixing a problem." It’s about building a foundation for lasting change. Think of it like strengthening your emotional muscles:

  • Self-compassion helps you quiet the inner critic.

  • Healthy boundaries allow you to reclaim your time and energy.

  • Improved communication helps you deepen your relationships.

When you give yourself permission to grow and heal, you set the tone for the rest of your year—and your life.
